What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are smooth, gel-based injections — most commonly hyaluronic acid, a substance your skin already produces naturally — used to restore lost volume, soften lines and gently enhance your own contours. As we age, the fat pads and collagen that keep the face plump thin out and shift downward, which is when lips lose definition, cheeks flatten and the lines around the nose and mouth deepen. Filler quietly replaces that volume exactly where it's needed.
At our Market Drayton clinic, filler is used across the lips, cheeks, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and tear troughs (the under-eye area). Results are visible immediately, and because hyaluronic acid filler is fully dissolvable, it is one of the few cosmetic treatments that can be reversed if you ever change your mind. Depending on the area treated, results typically last 6–12 months before a simple top-up is needed.
Are dermal fillers right for you?
Good for you if
- You've lost volume in your lips, cheeks or under-eyes and want it softly restored
- You want to smooth nasolabial folds or marionette lines
- You'd like more definition along the jawline or chin
- You want a natural, rested look — not a "done" look
- You understand results are temporary and maintained with top-ups
Not suitable if
- You're pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have an active skin infection or cold sore in the treatment area
- You have a blood-clotting disorder or certain autoimmune conditions — tell us at consultation
- You want a permanent change — filler is deliberately temporary
- You've had a reaction to filler in the past
A full medical history is taken at your free consultation before any treatment is agreed. If we do not believe filler will give you the result you want, we will say so.

- Little to no downtime for most areas
How do dermal fillers work?
Hyaluronic acid filler does two jobs at once. The gel itself adds volume the moment it is placed — which is why you see a difference as soon as swelling settles — and hyaluronic acid draws in and holds water, keeping the treated area softly hydrated and plump for months.
What matters most is placement. Supporting a cheek to lift the mid-face, defining along the jawbone, or adding a single careful millilitre to a lip — this is what separates a natural result from an overfilled one. Jhoveth assesses your facial structure and treats conservatively. Extra volume can always be added at review; the aim is that people notice you look fresher, not that they notice filler.
What to expect, step by step
- 1
Free consultation
We discuss your goals and medical history, examine your face and give you an honest recommendation with an exact price. Photos are taken so results can be compared properly later.
- 2
Numbing
Lips are numbed with topical cream for about 20–30 minutes. Most other areas need little numbing at all.
- 3
Treatment
Filler is placed with a fine needle or cannula. Expect a few seconds of stinging or pinching per injection. The full appointment takes around 40–60 minutes.
- 4
Straight after
Some swelling and possible bruising is normal. We apply ice, and you can go straight back to your day.
- 5
Two-week review
Swelling settles and the filler integrates over the first two weeks. We review your results against your photos and fine-tune if needed.
- 6
Top-ups
Most areas need refreshing every 6–12 months to maintain the look. We will recommend a rhythm that suits you, never more than you need.
Downtime, recovery and aftercare
Filler is a quick-recovery treatment for most areas. Expect swelling — especially in lips — and possible bruising for a few days. Most people return to work the next day, though if you are having lips treated for the first time, scheduling before a quiet weekend is sensible.
For the first 24 hours avoid alcohol, intense exercise, saunas and extremes of heat or cold, and do not massage or press the area unless we have asked you to. Bruising can be covered with makeup after 24 hours, and arnica can help it fade faster. You will be given a full aftercare sheet, and you can call us any time on +44 7398 769616 with questions.
Results and how long they last
Volume is visible immediately, with the finished result showing once swelling settles at around two weeks. Lips typically last 6–9 months; cheeks, jawline and chin around 9–12 months; tear troughs often a year or more. Your body gradually and naturally breaks the gel down, which is why the look softens over time rather than stopping suddenly.
Top-ups keep the result consistent, and most clients return once or twice a year. At every review we compare photos so you can judge the results side by side and decide — with no pressure — whether to continue, adjust or pause.
Pricing and options

Safety and credentials
All filler at Jhoveth Lee-Overy Aesthetic Clinic is hyaluronic-acid based, fully dissolvable and sourced from established, reputable UK suppliers. Treatment is performed by Jhoveth, an award-winning, fully qualified aesthetician trained in advanced facial anatomy and injection techniques, after a full consultation and medical screening.
Common side effects are temporary — swelling, bruising, redness or tenderness. Lumps and, very rarely, vascular complications can occur with any injectable, which is why placement technique and training matter so much; should you ever be unhappy with a result, dissolving treatment is available. We will never inject an area we believe is unsuitable for you, and results vary between individuals.
